You don’t have to speak Dutch to be an au pair in The Netherlands.

From the safety of a host family, you can immerse yourself in Dutch culture and explore everything this incredible country has to offer – boutique beer and exquisite chocolate, vibrant Amsterdam, The Hague, and busy Rotterdam.

Easy-going Netherlands is the home of historic figures such as Van Gogh, Rubens, Rembrandt and Anne Frank.

Because of the location of this country you can play almost any outdoor (and indoor) sport you can imagine. Holland has lovely beaches during the summer and wonderful skating on frozen lakes in the winter.

Riding a bike is an easy and efficient way of getting around the cities.

As an au pair in Holland you can experience vibrant Amsterdam, live a stone’s throw from the Beach in The Hague, or work in bustling Rotterdam. Learn Dutch and get a feel for the easy going life style!

Also, Holland is the portal to the rest of Europe: you can be in Paris within 4 hours and fly to London in an hour.

 

When can I go?

  • 12 month placements are available all year round.
  • We assist you obtain your 12 month Au Pair Work Permit.

What you receive:

  • Own private furnished bedroom, all meals provided, live-in with your host family – no living expenses!
  • Help your host family for 25-35 hours per week with childcare and light housework
  • Earn weekly pocket money 90-110 Euro (A$140+) for your sightseeing and going out
  • 1 ½ – 2 days free time per week (usually weekends) and 2 weeks paid holidays
  • Support 24 – 7 from your dedicated local support expert in Netherlands throughout your placement, and from JCR Australia.

Am I eligible?

  • Females and males aged 18 – 30
  • Speak English as a first language
  • Have 180+ hours childcare experience – eg babysitting, tutoring or coaching
  • Have an interest in Dutch culture, adaptability and a positive attitude

Program Cost

Application fee: $150

Placement fee – only A$50 due to subsidies and Dutch regulations, payable after we have arranged your signed placement agreement with your chosen host family
