JCR’s Au Pair Program gives you the chance to live with a family and experience the Chilean way of life first-hand as if you’re an active part of society.

Am I eligible?

  • Age 18 – 35, females and males, non-smoker
  • Speak English as a first language as host families want their children to practice English, basic Spanish is desirable but Spanish lessons are available.
  • Minimum 30 hours childcare experience. Babysitting, coaching and tutoring experience is acceptable, with children up to age 12. No childcare qualification required!
  • Clean criminal record and good health.

What you receive:

  • Live-in with your host family, in your own comfortable furnished bedroom; full board and lodge, all meals provided.
  • Two days free time per week, usually weekends.
  • A monthly allowance between 150,000 and 200,000 Chilean pesos (CLP) per month, which is approximately Au $335 – $405 towards your personal expenses / sightseeing.
  • Contact details of other au pairs.
  • Opportunity to meet other young people from all over the world.

When can I go:

Placements 3 to 6 (or 6 -12) months are available all year round

You may choose to take Spanish lessons – it is a fun way to meet many young travellers before your placement begins.
