A Day in the Life of an Au Pair in Italy: A First-Hand Account

As an au pair in Italy, my days are often filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of new experiences. From the moment I wake up and start my morning routine, I’m surrounded by beauty and culture that I’m lucky to experience and soak in.

 

My day typically begins around 8:30am when I wake up and take some time to get ready for the day. I enjoy some breakfast and coffee in the garden with the family I’m staying with before heading to the local park with the kids I’m looking after. This is a great time to enjoy the sunshine and get some exercise, and the kids love to show me new games and activities.

 

After the park, I’ll often take the kids to a museum or art gallery to learn about the local culture and history. I love teaching them about the world and expanding their horizons. Then it’s time for lunch, usually a delicious Italian meal made with fresh ingredients.

 

In the afternoon, I usually help the kids with their studies and help them practice English if they need it. I also help with chores around the house and take the kids to any extracurricular activities they have.

 

At night, I take some time to relax, read, and explore the city. I love taking advantage of the city’s nightlife and trying different restaurants and cafes. I love the fact that I’m able to experience all the different cultures of Italy while also having some downtime to myself.

 

Overall, being an au pair in Italy is an amazing experience. I’m lucky to be able to learn so much about the culture and way of life, while also having the opportunity to travel and explore. I’m constantly meeting new people and gaining new experiences, and I’m grateful for this amazing opportunity.
